About Us
Objectives of the Club are:
- A friendly association among its members.
- The maintenance of a high standard of ethical and sound business practices among its members.
- Continuing Education of members and other interested persons which will tend to improve the maritime industry and maintain business relationships in accordance with equitable and lawful business principles.
Programs of the Club are:
- Regular luncheon meetings and annual seminar to include golf tournament, featuring guest speakers who are knowledgeable in subjects of interest to our members.
- Annual seminar promoting continuing education among insurance agents, adjusters, underwriters, surveyors and attorneys in the marine insurance industry, maritime laws and related fields.
- The Club supports the community by sponsorship and donations to local non-profit maritime groups. In 2010, donations were made to:
- "American Victory Ship" - preserving and interpreting maritime culture, folkways and the legacy of the maritime industry;
- "AMIKids" (Associated Marine Institute - KIDS and Pinellas Marine Institute, Inc.) - helping to change the lives of at-risk teenagers;
- "Eckerd College Search & Rescue" - student volunteer maritime search and rescue team providing emergency assistance free of charge;
- "Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful" - to promote recycling and conservation awareness, prevent litter and foster stewardship of the land, along the shore and on our waterways and;
- "Make A Difference Fishing Tournament" - helping handicapped children experience the simple joy and camaraderie of fishing, and involving them in marine education and recreation.
Qualifications for Membership are:
- Regular Membership shall be open to all individuals who are employed in, or who have retired from the Maritime Industry and or all allied fields.
- Application for membership and admission to the Club shall be sponsored by two (2) members in good standing. Such applicant’s name shall be submitted by the Skipper, or other officer in absence of the Skipper to a membership committee for consideration and approval. If approved for membership, the applicant shall become a member of the Club upon payment of dues and initiation fee for the then current year.
